The Product Okta's Auth0 is an easy-to-implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. We make access to applications safe, secure, and seamless for the more than 100 million daily logins around the world. Our modern approach to identity enables this Tier-0 global service to deliver convenience, privacy, and security so customers can focus on innovation. The Team The Enterprise Management team provides enterprise-ready, centralized governance of the Auth0 resources our customers build on tenants, teams, and dashboard users under a single pane of glass. As customer environments grow in scale and complexity, we ensure secure, autonomous, and frictionless access through tenant-level transparency and access controls that meet or exceed their security policies. We own the full lifecycle of tenants and teams, the management dashboards, and the public APIs that enable enterprise customers to programmatically govern their Auth0 environments at scale. Our work spans RBAC, self-service SSO, and the tooling that enables internal teams to support customers on their Auth0 journey. We work with Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and React to build highly available and performant services. We ship with quality our recent launches have gone live with zero production bugs. What you'll be doing: - Design and build high-performance, customer-facing features end-to-end using React and Node.js/TypeScript, delivering from concept through production deployment. - Architect and optimize backend APIs both public and internal for throughput, latency, and reliability at enterprise scale. - Implement and manage caching strategies to minimize response times and reduce database pressure across our dashboards and API surfaces. - Profile, diagnose, and resolve performance bottlenecks across the full stack from React rendering and state management to database query optimization and network I/O. - Model and optimize data access patterns across PostgreSQL and MongoDB, choosing the right datastore and indexing strategy for each workload. - Drive technical improvements to our codebase and architecture, ensuring our systems are highly reliable, maintainable, and scalable. - Collaborate with engineers inside and outside the team to design and deliver powerful new APIs and features for our enterprise customers. - Mentor and coach other engineers on sound engineering practices, performance discipline, and testing. - Work closely with your team, the Product Manager, and the Product Designer to define the look, feel, and functionality of new features and review customer feedback. - Participate in the team's on-call rotation to ensure we offer our customers the best availability for our services. Key Qualifications: - 5+ years of experience working on large-scale systems or services. - Strong expertise using Node.js (TypeScript) to build backend services and create and maintain public or internal APIs. - Production experience building fullstack applications with React component architecture, state management, rendering performance, and modern tooling. - Deep experience with PostgreSQL schema design, query optimization, indexing strategies, and migrations. - Production experience with MongoDB document modeling, aggregation pipelines, and scaling patterns. - Hands-on experience designing and tuning caching layers (Redis) cache invalidation strategies, write-through/write-behind patterns, and TTL management. - Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve performance problems using profiling tools, APM instrumentation, load testing, and capacity planning. - Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and cloud environments; AWS and/or Azure experience is preferred. - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated interest in mentoring and helping teammates grow. Good to haves: - Experience building RBAC systems, multi-tenant platforms, or identity and access management products. - Experience designing and shipping APIs at scale, including versioning, rate limiting, schema design, and SDK readiness. - Experience with event-driven architectures, pub/sub systems, or asynchronous job processing. - Familiarity with observability and performance tooling, such as Datadog, New Relic, or OpenTelemetry. - Experience with SSO, OIDC, OAuth 2.0, and enterprise security patterns. #LI_Hybrid P25514_3516659 The Okta Experience - Supporting Your Well-Being - Driving Social Impact - Developing Talent and Fostering Connection + Community We are intentional about connection.
