We are looking for a collaborative, developer-focused SDE2 iOS Engineer to join our Universal Components team. Job Description You UNDERSTAND developers! You know what they need, how to talk to them, how to make their lives easier, and what turns friction into delight. You recognize when a framework, library, or product provides an exceptional developer experience. As an iOS Engineer on the Universal Components team, you will leverage that developer-first mindset to build and maintain our open-source UI components and SDKs. You will contribute to refining our entire developer journey—from onboarding, quickstarts, and documentation to providing direct assistance in developer channels. Your contributions will directly reach thousands of customer applications and carry a high impact across the mobile ecosystem. You will act as an internal and external advocate for the iOS platforms and technologies you work with daily. Collaborating in a cross-functional environment alongside developer relations, onboarding, growth, dashboard, and core SDK teams, you will help deliver a world-class experience for our component libraries. The most vital qualifications for this position are solid software engineering fundamentals, strong empathy for developers, and a collaborative mindset. What You’ll Be Doing - Building Modular UI: Designing and developing composable, high-quality UI components from the ground up using SwiftUI. - SDK Development: Shaping and evolving our open-source Universal Components iOS SDK, ensuring seamless integration with core identity and authentication services. - Authoring Developer Resources: Writing, curating, and polishing technical content, including tutorials, guides, sample applications, and clear documentation. - Community & Advocacy: Engaging directly with the open-source developer community, championing modern developer experience, and providing technical support. - Code Quality & Domain Expertise: Serving as a key technical contributor by providing domain knowledge, participating in code reviews, and upholding quality standards across our iOS projects. - Knowledge Sharing: Representing the team's technical expertise at developer events, community forums, or through technical blog posts. - Maintenance & Modernization: Troubleshooting, fixing, and maintaining client libraries while staying up to date with modern Apple frameworks and platforms. What You’ll Bring to the Role - 3+ years of professional experience in native iOS development. - 2+ years of hands-on experience building production interfaces in SwiftUI. - Ability to seamlessly translate design mocks (e.g., Figma) into clean, modular, and accessible SwiftUI code. - A strong interest in developing reusable iOS libraries and SDKs consumed by third-party developers. - Solid understanding of modern iOS frameworks, Swift best practices, and the broader Apple ecosystem. - Experience building or contributing to at least one shipped iOS application or public SDK using SwiftUI. - Practical understanding of modern dependency managers and SDK distribution methods (e.g., Swift Package Manager, Carthage). - Familiarity with CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI) and running automated mobile tests in continuous integration pipelines. - Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of authoring developer documentation or technical content. - A collaborative approach to engineering, with the ability to self-direct and execute independently while thriving in a globally distributed team. Bonus Points If You Have - Knowledge or hands-on experience with Design Systems (building component libraries, design tokens, or multi-platform visual consistency). - Hands-on experience with UIKit and handling hybrid SwiftUI/UIKit architectures. - Experience working in remote or distributed team environments. - Experience with Android (Kotlin & Jetpack Compose) or cross-platform architectures. - Active contributions to open-source projects or experience maintaining open-source repositories. - A personal technical blog, open-source portfolio, or published articles on modern iOS development. - Basic familiarity with identity, authentication protocols, or access management space. #LI - Hybrid #Pid - P18991 The Okta Experience - Supporting Your Well-Being - Driving Social Impact - Developing Talent and Fostering Connection + Community We are intentional about connection.
